On February 24, 2014 the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Oleksiy Shovkoplias held a meeting with the Director General of the Department of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Le Dzung.
During the meeting the Ambassador of Ukraine informed his counterpart that on February 22, 2014 the constitutional majority of Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) adopted a resolution to enact the constitution of Ukraine amended in 2004, according to which Ukraine became a parliamentary-presidential republic.
Ambassador of Ukraine informed his counterpart that the Parliament of Ukraine elected the Head of Verkhovna Rada O.Turchynov, who, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, became the acting President of Ukraine.
Vietnamese side was informed that the election of the new Head of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Acting President of Ukraine O.Turchynov was recognized by the European Union.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of Ukraine also informed about the latest appointments of the authorized representatives of Verkhovna Rada in charge of controlling the activities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, Public Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine as well as the appointment of the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
