The Embassy of Ukraine encourages everyone to join the initiative of writing and sending letters of support to Crimean political prisoners who are illegally held in places of detention in the temporarily occupied Crimea and in the Russian Federation.

Letters of solidarity are an important expression of support and human care for those persecuted for their beliefs and civic position. Each letter is a sign that a political prisoner is remembered, cared for, and not forgotten; it also serves as a human rights signal to prison administrations that the detainee remains in the focus of public attention and that any violations will be noticed. At the same time, such letters provide vital moral support to fellow Ukrainians who are held in captivity.
